Occupational Therapy (OT) is geared toward restoring patients to their prior functional level by improving activities of daily living and by adapting to any disability with the use of assistive devices. The primary goal of our Occupational Therapists is to enable individuals to participate in activities which are meaningful to them, reflect their beliefs and values, and produce a sense of accomplishment or satisfaction. These can include a variety of tasks ranging from work related activities to leisure activities.
Our Occupational Therapists also specialize in hand rehabilitation from injury and/or post-surgery. Their goal is to optimize the functional use of the hand and arm to enable our patient to increase productivity in both work and daily living activities. Our OT’s assist patients using modalities such as paraffin wax treatment, ultrasound, manual therapy, and utilize our Hivamat unit which provides a light electric oscillation current through the soft tissues of the skin to decrease pain and increase mobility.
